Organizing Principle
We are called to embody the love of Jesus Christ with grace, hope, and joy.
We live out this calling by collaborating creatively to
- nurture deep and lifelong spiritual growth,
- build up vibrant and inclusive worshiping communities,
- respond compassionately to the needs of our neighbors, and
- honor and care for creation.
About our Organizing Principle
As a newly-formed diocese, we are still in the early chapters of our shared story. In most seasons of diocesan life, a bishop helps to lead the work of prayerfully discerning a mission and vision statement. Because we are living in this in-between time before our first bishop is called, we needed a common thread to guide our shared life and decision-making now.
Our organizing principle is that thread. It grounds us in our baptismal covenant, gives clarity to our present work, and helps us measure our common life against who we are called to be as the body of Christ in this time and place. It is both descriptive, naming what is already true in our diocese, and aspirational, inviting us to grow more deeply into God’s call.
With the approval of Diocesan Council and Standing Committee, we now embrace this principle as a way to live faithfully and hopefully in this season of becoming. You can learn more about this principle and the process by which we arrived at it here.
