Who We Are

Formed in 2024 by the juncture of the legacy Episcopal Diocese of Eastern Michigan and legacy Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan, the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes spans 58 counties in Michigan’s lower peninsula from state border to bridge and shore to shore. Our diocese comprises 99 parishes and seasonal chapels along with two youth camps – Episcopal Youth Camp and Camp Chickagami –  and the AuSable Inclusion Center. We’re also proud and grateful to be affiliated with Plainsong Farm.

We are both large and small, both urban and rural. We speak three languages – English, Spanish, and Dinka. We take faith seriously – giving us imagination and opportunity for ministries and mission within our communities. Together we seek creative, life-giving, faith-enhancing and inclusive responses to the challenges of modern life.

Learn more about who we are and how we live together by exploring our site, especially by reading Our Stories. You can also join our online home for connecting to each other and resources, Great Lakes Episcopal Circle Community.
