Constitution and Canons

Our Constitution and Canons are the governing documents of our diocese. They are the set of rules or laws by which we organize ourselves and conduct the business of the church. They provide us with clear expectations for each other and for the parishes and organizations that make up our larger organization of our Diocese. With clearly articulated expectations and the transparency which these governing documents provide, we can hold ourselves – and be held – accountable for living out our diocesan life in the ways we have agreed upon doing.

These documents are living, however, and can be amended to reflect changing realities and the ongoing discernment that is a natural and necessary part of all levels of faithful life, from the individual to the corporate. The methods by which these documents can be changed are described within the documents themselves.

Below you’ll find the current and first adopted version of our Constitution and Canons, officially approved and accepted at our Primary Diocesan Convention, October 18 and 19, 2024.
