One of the best parts of being on Diocesan Staff is that we we get to travel around this very pleasant peninsula to connect with people, parishes, and communities. AND, even when we are in our offices and not on the road, we still get to do cool and meaningful work to support Episcopal ministries in our diocese. Here's a look at what some of us have been up to August 25-31.
Alan James, Interim Executive Officer
Small faithful congregations are inspiring. For 10 years St. Barnabas in Portage has operated a monthly diaper pantry, giving away 60 diapers per child. This month they supported 42 families, some with multiple children. This is a particularly impactful ministry given that an average Sunday is 35 worshippers in the program year, less in the summer.

Holy Spirit Episcocal Church in Belmont, MI is gearing up for Homecoming Sunday Picnic next week—games, activities, food, raffles, and MINI HORSES 🐴🎉 (yes, really!). This church is truly small but mighty.
Loved capturing joyful faces before and after Holy Eucharist today. My favorite moment: our Senior Acolyte/Crucifer gently mentoring his grandson—passing on the cross and the calling. 💙
This community overflows with welcome, opening its doors to neighbors from all walks of life across Belmont. Can’t wait for next week—come as you are, bring a friend, and join the fun!
Rachel Rose, Director of Communications
It feels strange to tell you what I was up to last week in my work, because I hope you already saw it! I was honored to be part of communicating changes in our diocese about ways in which we’re growing into our still-relatively-new reality as one diocese in a way that we hope was clear, transparent, and thorough. Don’t forget about the Diocesan Townhall on September 16 where we can talk through any questions or feedback you may have as a community. And, in case you missed all the hubbub last week, catch up with videos and transcripts, maps and charts here, here, here, and here!
