Diocesan Staff: Week of August 17

One of the best parts of being on Diocesan Staff is that we we get to travel around this very pleasant peninsula to connect with people, parishes, and communities. AND, even when we are in our offices and not on the road, we still get to do cool and meaningful work to support Episcopal ministries in our diocese.

Nurya Parish, Canon for the Northern Collaborative, Creation Care, and Beloved Community

Calvary Episcopal Church, Hillman, MI was a wonderful place to worship this morning! I got a building tour and met with the vestry. This church has been going since 1888 and I am praying for many more years to come.

Tracie Little, Canon for the Southern Collaborative and Adult Formation

What a joy to spend today with the wonderful folks of Trinity, Lexington. They have a new and improved setup for broadcasting services. MUCH more flexible! Meeting with Vestry following worship was a joy as they identified a new path forward that will bring energy to this amazing community. God is working powerfully in their midst. Can’t wait to see how God carries them forward!

Rachel Rose, Director of Communications

My work this week was characterized a lot by connecting virtually with people. On Tuesday and Thursday, I was thankful to help facilitate the two Budget Townhall meetings that our Treasurer, the Rev. Dr. Jared Cramer, hosted. This new opportunity in our budget cycle for everyone in our diocese to review, as questions about, and give feedback on our apportionment model and budget for the year before it goes to Diocesan Council to be finalized is a fantastic step toward not just transparency but facilitating more involvement from more people in our diocese in our democratic processes. If you missed those townhalls, you can watch them here.

I was also happy to help Bishop Anne hit the ground running by recording a noonday prayer for us to share on her first day on staff, August 15.

Rest assured that there are a lot of other things going on in this office, but it was a week that was surprisingly low on travel for me. It was nice to have a bit of a break, but I’m eager to get back on the road to see more of your great work in action!
