At the Diocesan Convention of 2025, our diocese passed a resolution titled “Sanctuary and Support for Immigrants and Refugees.” Because of my role as Director for Mission and Community Engagement, I was responsible to help bring this resolution to life. I did so by calling for a Task Force to step forward for implementation. Members of the Task Force then began work on resources for members of our diocese, from members of our diocese.
This devotional resource for Lent 2026 is created for you by members of this Task Force. The Scriptures were cited in the original diocesan resolution. The reflections, questions, and prayers are written by your siblings in faith in the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes. Let us all give thanks to God for the heart and faith which these Task Force members brought to this work:
The Venerable Beth Drew, Archdeacon Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes, Global Mission Advocate, Dominican Republic Companion Diocese Program
Ms. Kathy Hawkins, St. Paul’s, Gladwin
Ms. Jodi Gabert, St. Andrew’s, Big Rapids
The Rev. Ryan Lockwood, Grace, Traverse City
The Rev. Deacon Beckett Leclaire, AuSable Inclusion Center, St. Mary’s, Cadillac, St. Andrew’s Gaylord
Mx. Rayna Hauter, St. Paul’s, Flint
Ms. Lysa Fischer, St. Paul’s, Flint
Mr. David Taylor, St. Mark’s, Grand Rapids
Each week you will receive a reflection via email on Friday with a reflection for the following week for your Lenten journey. May these reflections help us grow closer to God and neighbor this Lent.
With every blessing,
The Rev. Canon Nurya Love Parish
Director for Mission & Community Engagement
